Value Strategy

MCS and Envogen (UK) Ltd work together as a service organisation that provides upgrade re-manufacture, training and equipment/data certification for ‘On-Line/At-line’ Melt Indexer/Rheometer. Our strategy is to improve the existing installed equipment. This approach builds on investments in equipment, training and the expertises of the personnel and avoids any unnecessary wastage.

All major manufacturers of the automated gear pump Melt Indexer/Rheometer make excellent, reliable and mechanically robust equipment. However, the achievement of full IMP5 capability requires different types of enhancements. This is dependent on the strengths and starting point of each type of analyser. The enhancements fall into two functional categories, which are clearly distinguished by the number of streams supportable by the analyser.

IMP5 Level 1- MFI measurement: The main thrust of this solution is to reproduce the test conditions and the flow patterns of the MFI apparatus in the single stream equipment. The principal focus is on the 2.16kg MFI test. Nevertheless upgrade Equipment will support a medium range Shear Viscosity spectrum.

IMP5 Level 2 – MFI measurement and Standardised Rheology: When the equipment has or is capable of 2/3 independent flow streams, it can be upgraded to Level 2 status. Level 2 utilises the Level 1 flow tract for MFI measurements which in conjunction with the Rheology flow tract creates a wide spectrum rheometer. This causes the rheology to be always standardised to the MFI measurement.

Delivery of Service

MCS offers an audit service that will evaluate and advice on any necessary rebuild and refurbishment. The Upgrade can be varied to suit individual customer requirements. After inspection and discussion with the customer/agent a contract package will be prepared. Within this document will be a ‘scope of work’ detailing the changes and additional equipment necessary to meet agreed performance guarantees.

Envogen In all cases, whether major or minor rebuilds, all upgrades and maintenance will be undertaken by Envogen, whose responsibility is to ensure that full compliance to the agreed specifications is met. Whenever appropriate, the measuring head and control unit would be shipped to the central Envogen workshop, where witness testing is finally performed. The service of data certification, verifying product conformance to MFI standard is operated between the two companies. Operator and maintenance accreditation training can be provided through Roxby, an Envogen owned facility.
